My Day With The BraunPrize Jury: Anna Kirah
As I’ve mentioned earlier one of the strengths of the BraunPrize lies in the variety of professional backgrounds of the jury members.
So beside geographic balance the BraunPrize team always takes care of various professional disciplines to be reflected in the jury composition as well. You might recall the BraunPrize 2007 competition where Mark Breitenberg has been part of the jury. Mark’s original background stems from studies in English literature even though today he serves as the Dean of Undergratuate Education at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
Therefore I’ve been excited to see Anna Kirah from Norway as part of the BraunPrize 2009 jury. Anna holds a graduate degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Oslo, Norway and a graduate degree in Psychology from the University of Washington. She now consults for CPH Design/Copenhagen in product and service design as well as leadership training as it pertains to the design mindset.
So for those of you who are fascinated by Design/design, but who are seeing themselves in the wrong study track Anna has some good advice for you! ;-) Right at the beginning of the interview she is sharing her path into Design and her advice for you out there is: “Always be open to your experiences, because you never know where you are going to go …” So let’s give her our best attention (and pls. ignore that fact that I might appear pretty tired ;-)):
