Yes, you all know that saying about time flying so quickly and the likes, but it’s true: Ever since the jury session #1 back in March 2009 almost three months passed again! I trust many of you are really curious what the next jury meeting will bring.

And to be honest I’m as curious as you are and I’m really looking forward to meeting the BraunPrize jury again tomorrow. The plan is to spend Tuesday and Wednesday with the jury and the BraunPrize team. Tomorrow (which means Tuesday) the jury again will have to narrow down the submissions that remained after the first session which effectively means: 58 out of a total of 1074 submissions from 54 countries! Accordingly the task of the jury at this stage of the BraunPrize competition will be to identify some 20+ entries for the BraunPrize 2009 exhibition and finally select the 4 BraunPrize finalists!

Nevertheless part of the BraunPrize rules/tradition is that the ‘burden’ to select the final winner is shifted to the so called “BraunPrize Forum”. This Forum consists of a steadily growing group of 200+ design experts from across the globe who are following Braun’s invitation to select the final winner. As the grapevine has it chances are that I will again moderate a part of the ceremony and coach the four BraunPrize finalists for their big moment on stage ;-)

Still a mile to go for all of us and again the jury session will be part of some other events to be scheduled around the meeting. Therefore tomorrow night the so called BraunSammlung will host a panel discussion with the BraunPrize jury members and I will have the honour to moderate this discussion. On Wednesday morning the jury will meet for their final discussions. As last time you can follow my report from the meeting here on the BraunPrize blog as well as via the webcam to be found on this webpage on the left hand side. The snapshots are updating automatically.

Similar to 2007 I’ll try to get Peter Schneider, chairman of the jury as well as Rainer Silbernagel, Director Engineering and Quality Institute Kronberg in front of the camera where they will hopefully share some impressions from the final selection process. Last but not least my plans are to get a final video statement from all three jury members as well. I’m sure this will be fun again!
